WILD THINGS ZINE is about embracing who you are and living your authentic life without apologizing for it. Living your life through self-expression is really important and here are some reminders for your daily life.
#1 BE AUTHENTIC
With social media and society, in general, constantly tells us who we are, what we are capable of, and what we “want”, it can be frustrating. It is easy to say “be who you are, be authentic” but in reality it is way harder than it seems. Although, try to listen to your intuition. If you don’t know what you like, experiment, try different things. Being authentic does not mean to be one and only, you are authentic when you combine all the things you like and create something new out of it. You are authentic when you truly listen to yourself and know your values.

#2 SPREAD KINDNESS
We live in a world where a lot of people are egocentric. Our Wild people are not like this. We have kind hearts, open mindsets, and bright souls. We love different people with unique stories and backgrounds. We listen carefully.
You don’t have to be perfect to be kind. Mistakes still happen. In general, it is ok to judge because it is human nature but being more sympathetic and empathetic can open many doors. However, set your boundaries and now when your limit has been reached.
#3 START SAYING NO
We are kind but we also know what or who we don’t like and we are not afraid to talk about it. We know our boundaries and are can let others know if we are not comfortable or don’t like a certain situation.
You don’t have to say “no” left and right. Start with respecting yourself and answer these questions:
- What are my values?
- How do I want to be seen?
- What will I no longer allow in my life?
#4 START EMBRACING YOUR CREATIVITY
Create every day or every week, or every month or once a year. Whatever you prefer, it’s up to you. Collages, painting, photography? Again, do whatever you prefer. Art and creativity are very empowering. It helps us to express and find peace with ourselves, experiment and try new things.
I would suggest to create every day, at least for 15 minutes. Sometimes, it feels like a good meditation.
#5 START ASKING “WHAT DO I WANT?”
It is important to know what you want. But if you don’t, it is still fine. Experiment! Go on the walks, go to the museums, research, talk to different people, understand their perspectives.
The truth is not a lot of people really know what they want from life. So if you struggle with it, start with the things that you don’t want. Eventually it will lead you to what you want.
Knowing what you want will help you to know your path better and to set boundaries.
#6 CREATE YOUR OWN ULTIMATE FREEDOM
It is hard, especially, when you still a teenager and/or live with your parents or your relatives. But freedom starts in our thoughts, usually. Especially freedom of expression. Make one step at a time.
I think the most important thing is to decide that you actually want to live your life a certain way and don’t feel ashamed for it.
At the end of the day, all of us are different and no one can experience another person’s life.
